Katie has recently been covering the matron post for Paediatrics and has made an immense difference to the whole of child health at Derriford. Katie has bought her leadership skills and her wealth of experience from NICU to the post and has had a huge impact not only on the wider MDT but also patients and their families. Katie has ensured that all developments are centred around the positive experience of the patient and has supported some huge improvement projects on the wards. Katie has also had a positive impact on the workforce on level 12. Providing caring and compassionate leadership. She understands what’s required to ensure that staff feel valued and supported, empowering them to provide the best care for their patients and families. Katie encourages all staff to be the best that they can be and encourages development and progression.
Katie has recently been appointed matron of level 12. And I have to say she has been incredible, so supportive of everyone and just the loveliest person!
She regularly visits us on the wards to make sure we are all ok and to see if she can help and support in anyway.
She is a great advocate for the patients she deals with to get them the best support and outcomes!
Katie will be missed as our level 12 matron. Thank you for all you have done in supporting us!Katie has had an extensive career in Neonatal and Paediatric services (and continues to do so). She has worked her way up to Matron and is a wonderful role model. She is knowledgable, professional, approachable and works harder than anyone I know. She is always there for staff and patients alike and is an excellent advocate. She has been the pioneer of many improvements to service over the years and continues to drive forward change in a safe and sustainable manner. She works very well with the multidisciplinary team and is well liked and appreciated by all. She is a fantatsic leader and an inspiration to many of us. I hope to work with her for many years to come.
