Nominated for Nursing Lifetime Achievement Award
Works at Torbay & South Devon
When I read the judging criteria for the “Nursing Lifetime Achievement”, Sister Lindsay Thomas embodies all of them and is an incredible example of them on the daily. Lindsay also has a role as a practice education within the department, which she is fundraising for new paediatric practice education equipment. This is just one example of her dedication to developing the team around children and young people. Her role as a safeguarding supervisor allows staff to access supervision frequently, which they do. She wants the team who look after children and young people to be the best, and is constantly supporting them to be so. She is the well-being lead within paediatrics and has also brought forward a HOT Debrief tool to help care for the team.
Lindsay works hard everyday (in or out of work) to ensure that all staff involved in paediatrics have the best possible knowledge and up to date education. Any staff that walk through the door to ED will without a doubt, leave with more knowledge and experience than when they came in. Lindsay goes above and beyond for our patients- including running a 12k in fancy dress to raise money for paediatric education!! She is a brilliant nurse and leader and I feel patients are receiving the best possible care from all staff due to her passion to educate. She is a supporting presence and a fountain of knowledge that pushes us all to be the best nurses we can.
