Gemma Wyatt

Nominated for Junior Nurse of the Year Award 2021

Works at Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

Gemma has only been qualified for a year, but due to the pressures on the ward at the moment she has found herself being in charge of the shift on many occasions and has also looked after very complex children – both these things would terrify much more experienced nurses!
Gemma is always so very keen to learn and takes on new challenges willingly. She will actively seek out new skills to learn.

Gemma is also a keen team player, and will always ask other members of staff if she can help them with their workloads.
She gives 100% on every shift, she is consistently professional, compassionate and caring. The children and their parents love her- with her gentle welsh accent and lovely bedside manner she is so reassuring and patient.
With every month that passes it’s so lovely to see her confidence in her practice grow, and it is clear that she will have a brilliant and successful career in nursing.

Gemma qualified last year and what a year it has been. Working during a very busy period and having to learn quickly during some difficult times. Gemma has shown such a team working attitude, looking after some very complex patients and supporting other team members throughout. Gemma is a brilliant brilliant, goes above and beyond for patients to provide the best care.
