Louise is our specialist safeguarding nurse for the paediatric sexual assault referral centre. Lou is the embodiment of safeguarding knowledge. Not only does she strive to ensure that children and young people are kept safe but she also strives our older young people to have choices. She is always putting children and young people at the front of what we do. Lou is known as an a very strong advocate in our service and will often professionally challenge the wider MDT around their views that do not put the young person first, are not victim focussed or trauma informed. Lou supports all members of staff acting as a sounding board, advise giving but more importantly acts in a way that will develop us as practitioners to make safe, defensible, child focussed decisions. Lou hold monthly safeguarding supervision for us all to be able to talk in an open and non judgemental forum as well as holding quarterly educational sessions for us all. Lou is extremely passionate around harmful sexual behaviour and the impact of pornography of young people. She completed her masters around this and is always opening education ourselves and others about the impacts to improve knowledge and understanding. Lou’s support, passion and advocacy shines through in everything she does.
