Fiona Musker

Nominated for Nursing Role Model of the Year Award

Works at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital

Fiona is the definition of an bramble unsung hero. Never have I met anyone who puts her patients, families, colleagues or the wider team before herself. She is one of the most selfless people I have had the pleasure to work with and whenever I see she is on shift I know it’s going to be ok. Fiona goes above and beyond for her patients and is an excellent advocate, she is often known to stay late on shift as ‘it’s not fair for the night staff to have to do this at the start of their shift’ or ‘else this patients meds will be later than they need to be’.

This attitude matches her lovely warm and welcoming smile and exceptional attention to improving her own skill set as well as passing on advice and ways to improve care to others. She treats every patient like they are the only ones in the hospital however many pressures she is under. This way of working also demonstrates what an amazing example she sets for student nurses and junior staff alike, she never shy away from work or delegates unless needing to as well as maintaining professional at all times and meeting the NMC standards. Fiona is often asked to coordinate shifts when there is less senior staff round. Even though this isn’t Fiona’s favourite part of her role she never ever moans or complains and does a brilliant job at supporting her team, making difficult decisions and being an advocate for her colleagues.

She is one of Brambles most treasured and hard working nurses and deserves the recognition for her exceptional care she provides to her patients as well as to her team.
