Emma Prestidge

Nominated for Allied Health Professional of the Year Award

Works at Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

Emma has shown great creativity and skill in adapting to working differently as a result of the Covid pandemic. She has introduced and run ( with the help of her colleague Rachel Gilbert) a program of virtual “” Cook & eat”” sessions for children with Type 1 Diabetes. The sessions were well received and thoroughly enjoyed by the children who took part. Not only did they learn valuable cooking skills, but they were able to meet other young people who have diabetes , helping to reduce the feelings of isolation they often feel.
She is always looking for innovative ways to improve the dietetic service for children with Diabetes, and has worked on ways to change their annual dietary review to make it a more meaningful exercise for the individual and to include screening for disordered eating.
Emma frequently offers words of encouragement and support to other members of the Paediatric Diabetes team, and is a very valued member of our team.
