Rhea Toney

Winner of the Nursing Role Model Award 2019

Here are the nominations we recieved:

Always professional yet approachable and cheerful. Rhea always goes the extra mile and nothing is ever too much hassle. She is highly respected and liked by all the team. An excellent senior nurse.

Calm and very efficient. Really cares about patients and families. Approachable and always happy to help with even the most challenging questions. Is the rock of the paediatric ward. One of the most caring nurses, but also most organised and dedicated. Leads the ward by example with constant drive to improve and ensure staff are ok.

No job is too big or small for her, always willing to get stuck in. We are so lucky to have her as a matron!

Rhea is a formidable Matron. She cares for every member of staff on Bramble – nurses, doctors, allied healthcare professionals, and support staff. I’m not quite sure how she manages to find the time to do everything that she does, and with such a wonderful smile! Totally respected by all, seeing her with patients is where she shines. An asset to anywhere, so I’m very pleased to have her working in Exeter.

Rhea is the absolutely gold standard of how a nurse should be. As a manager she always is looking how to improve the unit and the wellbeing of staff and is always approachable when needed and fair in how she deals with any problems. She always has a smile on her face and is the absolute epitome of professionalism.

Always upbeat yet professional. Gets stuff done. Supportive of nurses and doctors. Oozes compassion.

Rhea is a pleasure to work with. She is an excellent leader who everyone looks up to. She is always available to staff on bramble ward and no request ever seems to be too much for her. I have never seen her say a cross word, she has an admirable ability to remain calm in any situation. She works seamlessly with both the medical and nursing teams. When I have seen her cover breaks, she has a lovely manner with patients.
