Donna Drake
Works at Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
Donna is a healthcare assistant working primarily in paediatric outpatients in Torbay. She is dedicated to that role and as well as assisting with the day to day running of OP she undertakes the skin prick testing for allergy which might I say she is an absolute whizz at!! Having watched her do it I was blown away by her communication with children and their families, putting them immediately at ease during a potentially fairly unpleasant procedure. She demonstrates such competence and expertise in this skill that the child often seems to enjoy the ‘bubbles being popped’ which for those that have never seen the test being done involves pricking the skin with a needle! Most children come out smiling with a sticker. She’s incredible!
Fabulous HCA who helps run our busy outpatient department. She is cheerful, efficient and organised.
She has a beautiful manner with children and their families, and is particularly sensitive to those with additional needs who find the outpatient department visits challenging.
She manages the outpatients fluently ensuring that all the clinicians have what they need, notes are organised and weights/heights and other readings are done promptly and in the notes.
She deals with patients, families and flustered doctors with equal compassion and skill.
In addition to this Donna has worked hard to develop patient information boards in the waiting room and has attended courses to try and improve our approach to those with sensory or additional needs.
She’s such an asset to the department. Please keep up your exceptional work!

She is kind, caring and considerate and is able to gain an instant rapport with patients of all ages. It’s never hard to figure out where Emma is, just listen for the giggles of children having their observations completed. Works at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
Lee-Anne’s Journey has taken her from HCA to Neonatal Nursery Nurse. This year she completed the Neonatal Foundation Programme. She is also a brilliant IBLS instructor to the families of the babies in her care. She is a great support to newly qualified nurses and students who work with her. She is professional and the best advocate for our tiny people. I feel reassured when Lee-Anne is on duty that the babies are receiving outstanding care.
Lee-Anne is a highly valued member of the neonatal family.

Charlotte Winfield
Works at Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust
She has gone above and beyond for patients, especially the eating disorders. She always takes her own initiative and looks out for the best interest of the patient. She is a pleasure to work with and has an incredible enthusiasm towards work.
Charlotte is extremely hard working, she has as much energy and the end of the shift as she does when she first starts. She’s always happy and keen to help with any jobs that need doing. Her smile and happy personality makes everyone around her feel happy too. She is a great team member to the staff she works with, and is an incredible HCA to those she cares for. I don’t think I have ever had the pleasure of working with someone who is as lovely, kind, honest, and as hardworking as Charlotte.
