Mia Stoneman

Nominated for Healthcare & Nursing Assistant of the Year Award

Works at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital

Mia is a great support to Bramble Ward; she is naturally quiet but her presence on the ward is always felt. She is always happy and greets everyone with her smile. Nothing is ever too much trouble for her. Recently, Mia had a promotion within her HCA role and what an achievement for her. She has a natural ability to provide outstanding care to patients and has shown a real great work ethic when looking after complex mental health patients. Mia strives to be an all-round asset to the ward, working in many different areas, with multiply skills and forever trying to better the skills she has. It is hard to believe sometimes that Mia is one of the younger members of Bramble workforce at just 20 years old. Mia’s natural ability to care and advocate for her patients has shone through in the last 6 months, with the complex patients on Bramble, she has show great leadership in all aspects of their care, ensuring patient safety and working collaboratively with MDTs and nursing staff. Some shifts can be very hard going, especially if undertaking 1:1 care, but Mia has taking everything in her stride, ensured support when required for herself and still smiled through it all. I love working with Mia – you always have such a calming nature, always happy to help with peer teaching and support and you’re such a lovely lady too.

Mia has been so friendly and always there for help and support. Mia is confident and capable and always does such a great job!

Mia is an amazing HCA, she has built bonds with long term patients and gets on well with them. She takes the time to get to know them and will often be found doing different activities with them.

When she is not supporting patients, she is supporting staff. Always offering to help staff and she is always making herself busy stocking up, tidying up and doing the little jobs that make a massive difference.

Mia is approachable and friendly, and sets an example to any new staff we have. She has grown in confidence since starting on Bramble and a real credit to our team.
