Sophie Griffith

Nominated for Nursing Role Model of the Year

Works at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust

“Always incredibly hard working, kind and caring! Sophie has grown into her role as a band 6 nurse and become a brilliant role model, always putting the needs of others first and creating a calm working environment (even on the busiest of days), by doing everything she can to ease the ever increasing workload of the nursing staff. An inspiration for other staff members and newly qualified nurses!!

Sophie is absolutely amazing! She joined the senior team within paediatrics at the start of 2019 and has gone from strength to strength since. Recently, she has moved to a non clinical role, due to covid, and has been invaluable. No job is too big for her and she completes all tasks in a professional and thorough way. Thank you Sophie for just being you- we are so grateful for all that you do, and for being there for us all.

Sophie is an inspiration to all. Sophie is always cheerful and uplifts everyone around her .She is probably the hardest working nurse I have ever known ,she never stops from the beginning to the end of her shift .She is enthusiastic in all she does which is infectious – I regularly here junior nurses say they inspire to be like Sophie .I have seen Sophie develop over the years from a junior staff nurse to a senior staff nurse on Polkerris Ward. It has not been an easy year for Sophie, being pregnant during COVID-19, but you would not know it. Sophie had to leave the Polkerris Team and move to Fistral team. She did this with no complaints and I know made a real difference to her new team. Sophie has really high standards of nursing care and expects nothing less from the team. Sophie is so kind and compassionate with all clients and their families and they absolutely love her. Her knowledge is immense and is always working to gain more knowledge. Sophie is always keen to pass on that knowledge and is heavily involved in education especially in Simulation. Even now before maternity leave Sophie continues to work hard non- clinically Supporting the nurse management team and medics ensuring the safety of the wards by managing off duty, looking at improving quality of care and being instrumental in coordinating a home care package for a child on the ward. Sophie is so deserving of this award.

Sophie is an excellent nurse and leader. She leads the team and the ward even when it is busy with enthusiasm and energy. She enjoys the challenge of a busy ward and manages this with ease. She is also a great team member, friendly, approachable and fun. She puts others before herself and can always be relied upon to help when needed.”
