Nominated for Team of the Year Award
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust
It is such a massive privelidge to work in such an amazing team. There is such a good support system within the staff for eachother and empathy. There is great pride in seeing how much we teach and educate at all levels. There have been many personal challenges over the year for mutliple individuals and during that time the team have been a massive suport in making sure everyone can talk and be open without judgement. We all push eachother to be the best that we can be and to make sure we are devlivering excellent care to children and their families. It makes me very proud to be part of this team.
Hardworking and adaptive team. Always doing their best at advocating and caring for children and young people. Always supportive towards all staff and students!
This team is extremely hard-working and often goes above and beyond for their patients. They are very supportive of one another and have good relations throughout the hospital
The whole Paediatric ED team are full of the most caring, supportive and inspiring people.
Everyone always advocates the best treatment for their patients, and ensures patient’s voices are heard when they attend ED.
People go above and beyond to make sure the department is safe, and work really hard to manage high workload as a team.
The team is always supportive towards one another and helps people overcome challenges. This team went through huge changes over the last few years and especially throughout the pandemic. They showed the highest level of professionalism despite the worrying circumstances and endless heavy workload. The positive feedback from patients and their families reflects the friendly and gold standard of care that they offer. We are incredibly proud to work alongside them and it is reassuring to know that children attending our department can have as positive as possible experience of being in hospital. They go above and beyond to help their patients but also the patients in other areas and their colleagues.. a wonderful asset to the trust!
The word team should not even be used to describe Paeds ED, it should be family! This team truly is amazing. The department can be busy and challenging to work within but the support of those around you makes everything easier. Some of the situations the team experience are traumatic but the team always takes time to debrief or check on each other in the coming days/weeks, something which is crucial in this environment. There is not one person I don’t enjoy working with within this team. The entire team works hard to ensure that children receive the best possible care they deserve. Nurses will use their knowledge and experience to support and guide more senior clinical members of staff on areas of paediatrics that they are unsure of. The staff are constantly advocating for the needs of the children within their department, recognising when children need referrals to other specialities. Nursing staff are very good at appropriately escalating long waits within the department, as well as keeping patients and their families updated. It hasn’t been an easy year for many of the staff within the department but the support received from each other ensures we are all looked after, be that during work or outside of work. To top it all off, we have the best manager we could ask for who many times goes above and beyond to support her team in any way she can, including working night shifts during times of short staffing! I am so grateful to be a part of team Paeds ED.
Nothing is ever to much for any member of this team . The skills embedded into this team and next to amazing . They support each other , they are friendly and they are there for any member of the team as well as the children and families no matter what they have had to deal with during that day. A&E is a demanding and hard place to work and it’s the close knit team work that keep it going.
An amazing team, showing great strength even through the hardest of times, always showing support to each other and others within the hospital. The knowledge base, work ethic and passion shown is always admiring to see. A great team to work in.
This team of nurses is some of the best that I have ever had the pleasure of working alongside. The way they guide and support medical professionals that come in to ED, sometimes with very little knowledge of Paediatric emergency medicine is astounding. All of you are a wealth of knowledge and I haven’t seen a team of nurses work so well together in a long time. The feedback I receive from medical professions, families, parents and patients is a credit to the hard work you all put in.
Patient care is always at the centre in every decision you make and you are never afraid to voice your opinions/concerns to gain the best possible outcome for the patients. Your ability to form relationships with not only the children but parents and families also provides them with great comfort and reassurance and you are often dealt difficult situations that you manage with grace. What a pleasure and honour it is to work along side all of you. Well done Paeds ED.The team in Paeds ED have consistently shown there amazing ability to come together to over come challenges and grow together. Over the past few years the paeds ED team have grown and matured into a robust team of a range of experiences who work tirelessly together to always strive to improve the care of young people and there families coming together to work as a team through sometimes adverse and challenging conditions.
The paeds ED team has grown into a clinical area that actively supports and encourages there staff members, where staff of any grade or experience are supported and encouraged to grow professionally and achieve their career goals, through education, experience and new roles and responsibilities. junior members of staff are encouraged and supported through there preceptorship to develop career long skills in an understanding and supportive environment. Experienced members of staff are never forgotten either, being continuously positively challenged to grow and expand there skill set and confidence. Paeds ED has helped me grow from a newly qualified nurse to an experienced, confident nurse and continually provides me with the opportunities to expand my skill set in a non-judgmental and supportive environment.
inter team:
The team in Paeds ED is always striving for better working relationships with other teams across the hospitals, always looking to improve and perfect relationships to work as One Big Team for the benifit of the children and young people in our care and there families.
Paeds ED are continually striving for clinical excellence through research and clinical education, embracing review of practises to ensure we provide the best possible care to their patients and providing plentiful education opportunities to improve care and provide staff members with the best possible learning experience from there time with us.As someone who has spent a short amount of time working in the paediatric department I can confidently say the nurses are some of the most enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kind people I have ever come across. They continue to advocate for the children despite difficulties with acuity, patient volumes and staffing issues. Each child and their journey is thought about with such compassion and empathy. This team truly deserve this more than anyone.
As a colleague in the emergency department, witnessing first hand how paeds overcomes overcrowding, lack of doctors and high acuity of patients, i can confidently say that it is one of the best teams i have worked alongside.
I would have every trust in the nurses in paeds ED if i were to ever bring my child in. They are so knowledgeable within their field and so happy to help teach others. I have seen how well the team coordinate their care and priorities effectively to ensure that all the children are kept safe despite the high demand in the department. The emergency care they provide to children is above and beyond and they do it all with a smile on their face. They also go above and beyond helping out the adult side when possible which just goes to shows that we really are one big team!
What a team!!! A team that is supportive, kind, respectful, caring and passionate about creating an environment for the exceptional care of children . The Paediatric emergency team work together and face many challenges 24 hours 7 days a week. In the last few years there have been massive changes within the department and now there are more to come! However they face each challenge fearless and determined that it will work. I am so proud to be part of this team and how far it has come. Well done team you are amazing all of you x
This team is awesome. They all work together well, for the best care of the children in this area. They are an amazing group of people who welcome new staff, students and doctors who join the department. They wholeheartedly support and advocate for the children they see. They work in a fast paced, over stretched very very busy department and do so with professionalism and compassion. They are able and willing to support the adult side of the department with their questions about safeguarding and also joining in care when appropriate and possible. They are always willing to learn new treatments and processes within the department. They are a credit to the trust.
The Paediatric team in Derriford is second to none. The whole team work amazing together to provided the best individualised care possible. The skill set and knowledge the team as a whole enable such a holistic care for children in emergency situations. This team in constantly learning and whiling to teach from the paeds seniors to nurses to HCA’s. The team as a whole is awesome.
This team also received a nomination from a parent, however we are unable to place text from children, young people or their families on our website, but the text was passed onto the team.
