Alison has celebrated 40 years of nursing this year and has spent the last 20 years supporting children and young people with diabetes as a PDSN. Over the years she has supported many children and young people with diabetes and is now caring for the children of patients she cared for when they were young and newly diagnosed with diabetes. She is an excellent role model, always strives for excellence and advocates strongly for the patients in her care.
As well as loving her job, she has dedicated much of her spare time to supporting children and young people with diabetes, most recently on a Diabetes UK summer camp. Alison is embracing the ever changing advances in paediatric diabetes care and is always willing to share her knowledge with other team members and paediatric ward. She remains enthusiastic in everything she does. Alison’s dedication deserves to be celebrated!

Alison has just celebrated her 40years of NHS service as a paediatric nurse. This is a huge achievement and she must have touched the lives of so many families over this time. Within her current role as a diabetes specialist nurse, she continues to improve the lives of our children with diabetes daily. She is excellent in her role and admired not only by her patients but all who work with her. Alison is such a strong advocate for her patients and goes over and above all the time to ensure each one is managed to the best of her ability.
Within her own time Alison continues to show her dedication to her career and the care of children with diabetes, going on the diabetes UK summer camp and providing senior nursing support to the children involved in that.
Alison has guided me as I have become part of the diabetes team and has had such a positive impact on my understanding of managing children’s diabetes. As a MDT we work really closely together and Alison’s experience, knowledge and support is so valued by all who work with her.

Alison is a member of the Paediatric Diabetes Nursing Team and has been providing nursing care to patients and their families for 40 years. Her excellence in working within the multidisciplinary team and sharing her extensive knowledge is regarded highly.
