Donna is a valuable member of the Bramble team; she has motivated me in my own work and treated her patients families and peers with the utmost respect. She is a fantastic teacher who makes learning simpler for myself and others. She works with the larger MDT team to ensure that the patients and families in her care receive the best treatment possible. When evaluating patients who are deteriorating, Donna is able to demonstrate autonomy, express concerns, and confidently make clinical judgements on the patients’ care. Donna you have been huge help and support since I started as a newly qualified 2 years ago. You go above and beyond and nothing is ever too much for you! Thank you for all you do.
I am not even sure where to start with Donna, she is probably one of the best nurses I have ever worked with and the epitome of nursing!! She is so thorough and always up to date on the most recent research and guidance and whenever she looks after someone, you know that child could not get better care. She thinks of things no one else would have thought of, and will fight to be an advocate for that child and ensure they get the necessary treatment. If I am unsure of something, and Donna is on she will be the first person I go to…as I will know I will get the answer along with why and used as a teachable moment. Donna will often take charge, and you know she will support you, check in on you and make sure that the ward is safe. She has a wonderful rapport with patient’s and their families, and in particular the oncology patients who all absolutely adore her! When Donna is on shift, I feel safe as I know that I have a sounding board and someone to work with, Doctors go to her for advice and she fills everyone around her with confidence. She is a wonderful person, who is so kind, compassionate and empathetic and a true asset to Bramble and Nursing.
Donna is an INCREDIBLE NURSE.
Not only is she is a font of all nursing knowledge , she is friendly and so so helpful to her colleagues .
You can turn to Donna for help with anything and she will always do her best to help you.
If Donna is ever co ordinating a shift you know it will run as smoothly as possible, you will be well supported and the shift will be run as fairly and safely as possible.
We are so lucky to have Donna working on bramble will us all.
I have only known Donna for five years, through student life and now a qualified nurse. Working alongside Donna is an honour. I also believe half the ward was once Donna’s student. You knew as a student if you were paired up with Donna, it was going to be a full shift of learning and opportunities to see firsthand and participate in brilliant nursing. Donna has been part of the Bramble team for many years and it shows in her dedication to nursing and caring for her patients. Donna has advocated for the sickest of patients and escalates to get their voice heard. She has a calming nature about her that you just know whatever the shift entails, you will be supported, the patients and ward are all in the safest hands. Donna works in every area of Bramble, oncology, day case, surgery, HDU, PAU and the ward itself, as well as being in charge. The wealth of knowledge this fantastic lady holds and shares is incredible. Many returning patients know Donna as she has made such an impact to them. The years of nursing and dedication transpires into working relationships with the consultants, senior nurses, Jr doctors, students and fellow colleagues. Its clear to see, everyone values Donna’s opinion and advice. She works and supports everyone, keeps you grounded, praises where praise is due and uses occasions as learning opportunities if things didn’t go quite to plan – with children, it often doesn’t go to plan. She embodies the word teamwork, and the working relationship between Donna and the MDTs that come onto Bramble and in the community are evidence of her dedication to caring for patients, she has a flare for seeing finer details of what patients require and somehow knows all the information to get the right person for the job. I strive to be a nurse like Donna, giving back to others what she has learnt over her years and caring for patients in the manner she does.
