Nominated for Team of the Year Award
Cornwall Partnership Trust
The children and young peoples eating disorder service within CPFT exemplify multidisciplinary working. The team is made up of many professions, from occupational therapists and social workers, to mental health and paediatric nurses, and of course the amazing admin team, all now working to provide the very best care for children and young people with eating disorders.
Everyone in the service is friendly and looks out for each other, as well as their patients. You can ask a question and multiple people will come together to try and find the best solution. When situations arise that mean plans need to be changed, they come together to reshuffle, rethink and help each other to make sure patients and families still get what they need.
As a team that works within a speciality that straddles physical and mental health they also use that amazing multidisciplinary working to liase with acute district general hospitals in both Cornwall and Devon, adolescent mental health units, specialist eating disorder countries up and down the country, as well as various community teams such as CAMHS, autism support, and GP surgeries. They support patients, families, and staff during what can be a really difficult time, always there with advice, help, or even just a friendly ear.
Innovation is also at the core of what they do. They embody the idea that the medical world and caring professions are always evolving, and they strive to evolve with it. Staff are offered training to help upskill them and catering to their specific interests frequently and there are always new groups for parents and families, working groups, and even teams within the team developing, such as their new outreach and support team (COaST).
At the core of all this is an emphasis on wellbeing for staff, instilled by our management team and embodied throughout everyone’s interactions and support.
