Becca Laverick

Nominated for Nursing Role Model of the Year Award

Works at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – EASTERN

Becca is such an asset to Bramble ward. She is an experienced and skilled nurse who can work in all areas of the ward and is now excelling in her role as a Band 6 nurse. Even in the most challenging of situations Becca always maintains a calm and professional demeanor and shows such kindness, care and compassion to patients and their families.
Becca is a great colleague – very supportive, approachable and just lovely to be around. Thank you Becca for all your hard work – Bramble would be lost without you!

Becca became a Sister this year, this role she has taken on with enthusiasm with a drive to help make changes to positively impact the team and the ward. She has taken an active role within PAU liaising with ED to ensure patients and their families receive the best possible care, and care can flow and optimise working together. Becca is a wonderful role model, she is a very thorough nurse and when she is in charge she is a very active presence on the ward and ensures the team feel supported. Becca has also decided to help take on Epic and has been liaising with other trusts to ensure that this is the best it can be across both sites, this is invaluable as not many people want to take this challenge on! Becca always puts her all into everything she does, and never does anything half-heartedly and will always provide patients with the best possible care. Becca is always on hand to support other members of the team, and does so with kindness and is an excellent teacher. Becca is a very valued member of the team, and a joy to work with!

Becca In this year’s newly acquired band 6 duty, you have excelled. Knowing you are in charge or just on shift gives you peace of mind. Always providing your patients and team with the utmost care and compassion possible. It is obvious that both your patients and coworkers adore and think the world of you. You were always so eager to educate me further when I first became qualified, and you are always eager to respond to any of my inquiries, no matter how ridiculous they may be. You do a great job of supporting the larger nursing and medical team and ensuring that the shift goes as smoothly as possible, which is not always simple. To guarantee that your patients receive top-notch care, you endeavour to exemplify the nursing practise principles. Becca makes well-informed judgements that preserve the dignity and rights of her patients by abiding by these nursing values. Keep up the great work, Becca; you are outstanding.

Becca is an amazing nurse, she has been so supportive of me during my time on Bramble. She is keen to support junior doctors to learn, and taught me so much when we did APLS together. She also helps new members intergrate them into the team. She is always calm, she is an excellent nurse to have around with acutely unwell patients as she anticipates what they need, communicates well with the team and gets tasks done quickly and efficiently. She also has the loveliest manner with patients and families. She is also very organised when she is nurse in charge.

Becca provided exceptional care for a palliative patient we recently had on the ward. She managed to support the family, with kindness and compassion and let the family help guide the care of this child. She managed to be supportive whilst also giving them as much space and time together as a family as possible. She was not only supportive of the patient and family, but also of the whole MDT as this was understandably difficult for the team. She also helped to coordinate the after death care for this patient, again not just supporting the patient and family but the whole team.

Becca prioritises team well being for example helping to organise socials. She is an outstanding nurse and a pleasure to work with.

Becca is an amazing nurse and I am always pleased when she is in charge. She is calm and proactive in solving problems. She is very caring towards patients and always advocates for the best for her patients.
