Nina Worrin

Nominated for Nursing Role Model of the Year Award

Works at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust

Nina is an experienced paediatric nurse who has recently taken on nurse education roles and a cardiac specialist nurse role.
Nina is an exception nurse who works incredibly hard and is keen to take on challenges and responsibility. She approaches all her roles with passion, dedication and hard work. Nina is a perfectionist and wants to achieve the very best she can not only for patients and their parents but also to support staff, especially those new to their roles.
Nina has developed numerous programmes to support nursing development on Polkerris including regular ventilation training to ensure that all staff are up to date with new equipment and feel confident with equipment. The junior nursing team find this invalubale and such a great resource and support. More so Nina led a teachings session for doctors, nurses and consultants from paediatrics, ED and critical care. This session had excellent feedback and was brilliant!

Nina has recently taken on a new role as cardiac nurse. This was a really big challenge as no role existed before and it has required a lot of independent working and thought and time. Nina has risen to this challenge exceptionally well, she has taken on responsibility when given and actively asked for feedback to improve. It has been a big change for her but she has fitted in brilliantly to our team and her time and knowledge has been invaluable both for us as clinicians but also for the patients and their families who get that extra bit of time and personal care.

Nina has integrated superbly with the rest of the cardiac network in particular developing close working relationships with the Bristol cardiac nursing team who think she is excellent.
Nina is ready for more independent working and we want to support her with this. She is presenting her work at a national conference in the autumn.

Well done Nina – thank you
