Dr Alice Hunter

Nominated for Paediatric Junior Hero (ST1-4s, FTs, GPST and Trust SHOs)

Has been working at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust – EASTERN

Alice is a breath of fresh air. She is amazing, with her patient care and seeing patients in a timely manner. Watching her do her assessments and seeing her interact with children and families, in PAU, I am in awe. The way Alice includes the child at the forefront of all her conversations, including them and ensuring that all information is gathered, is incredible, a real flare for individualised patient care. Not only that Alice has a great working relationship with the nurses in both PAU and the ward, and nothing seems like too much trouble for her. She is a wealth of knowledge and comes from a background of working in A&E and it shows her dedication to patient care and quick assessments in recognising a sick child. Alice is a really kind-hearted, approachable, passionate doctor, and you know that the patients and us staff are in great hands. Alice is really supportive to whoever is on shift, from HCAs to consultants, she has a natural ability to communicate and include everyone. She is always cheerful and goes above and beyond, offering help to nursing staff if an area is busy to ensure that patients are not left waiting longer than they need too. Alice is always on hand to answer questions and help out. I for one will miss her when she rotates from Bramble, as I know many other nurses will too.

Alice’s kindness is so abundant. She is always cool headed and never appears rushed for anyone, be it patient or colleague. She demonstrates excellent clinical knowledge and writes the most lovely notes that are clear, with the sweetest observations about the patient.
Alice clearly cares for all the children and young people she comes across and her interactions are so lovely and meaningful.
As a colleague I am always happy to approach her and feel listened to and respected.
She is a wonderful doctor, advocate and colleague and is a genuine, warm hearted soul to work with.

Despite having only been in the department a few months Alice has taken to paediatrics like a duck to water, she comes up with excellent plans on PAU, has fantastic clinical skills including cannulating even the littlest babies and is also just a lovely person to work with. She stays calm in an emergency and is excellent at providing acute care and prioritising tasks. Her communication with colleagues and families is excellent as is also evidenced by your very clear handovers.

Alice is one of the GP trainees working on paeds. She is a team player and has fit in well within the department. She is clinically knowledgeable, but also goes above and beyond for the patients and their families, in particular with young people in distress.
