Olha Danko

Nominated for Paediatric Senior Hero (ST4-8 & SAS doctors)

“Olha has worked for UHP for several years as a speciality doctor. She has supported the development of the service here including quality improvements, including undertaking an audit and benchmarking the NICE sepsis guideline against the Kaiser Permanente EOS calculator and then implementing the change from NICE to KP EOS thus reducing the antibiotic exposure to newborn babies.

Olha also sits on the antimicrobial stewardship committee and continues to advocate for the babies in her care. Given her extensive neonatal experience, Olha has taken on the teaching for the undergraduate medical students on NICU and has developed several teaching packages for the students which is very well received by the school. Olha supports the trainee doctors rotating to NICU UHP and guides them to be successful in clinical practice ensuring they are aware of the local guidelines and practices. She is valued dearly by the NICU ANNP/ENNP and medical teams especially when she brings fresh produce (tomatoes/salad) from her garden.”
