“Cath has gone above and beyond in her role as a consultant this year. She has taken on the role of CAU lead and from this role she has begun teaching sessions with the nurses and has initiated many quality improvement initiatives, including creating the CAU steering group. Cath has also started taking over the doctors induction and has ensured that doctors are fully trained, educated and supported from the outset of their stay with us. Cath has yet again shown from this year that she is a real team player and is constantly striving to make it the best place for everyone to work. Cath’s interaction with patients and parents has been witnessed first-hand and is exemplary, they always feel well informed and happy with their experience.
Cath is a great support to the team. Goes out of her way to teach us further on medical topics. Cath is always smiling and very approachable to help in any way she can. She is a great team player and the interaction she has with patients and their families is exemplary. Very approachable, kind and always smiling. Supports everyone and keen to improve staff morale and team work.
Cath is an extremely good consultant. Always takes the time to talk to the nurses and discover their opinion on their patients. Cath goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone is happy with the plan of care. She is also very good at ensuring the nursing staff are well, especially if we have had a challenging or unwell patient.
Extremely knowledgeable, and utilises her time wisely to educate others, for example, if there is ever a spare moment, she will talk us through appropriate topics to learn e.g- illnesses recently encountered on the ward. Not only for staff, she goes the extra mile to stay with patients and their families to provide excellent standard of care, along with compassion, outstanding communication, and has a gentle, warm presence, thus considerably approachable. Cath does not rush her time with any patient or family, she in fact stays that little bit longer to ensure the family are reassured, content, and fully understand the given circumstance. Cath is always a listening ear, will always spare time to help others despite the situation. Cath is an exceptional team player, as well as team leader.
Dr Derry is a friendly and supportive member of the team in paediatrics and is very thorough in her care not only to the patients but also to their families. She is good at motivating others in the team to grow and develop.”
