Michelle Townsend

Nominated for Nursing Role Model of the Year

Works at Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust

“Michelle took over the role of ward manager during the pandemic. She has had to deal with a new role, a ward move (because we had to leave our ward to make room for a 20 bedded ICU) and the sheer changes that have been thrown at us all due to COVID 19. Throughout this Michelle has not only looked after us all, whether working. working but shielding or shielding at home. She has communicated with us all in such a way for us to feel included and also “”rolled her sleeves up”” and worked alongside us in all areas, and in my view there is no better role model than that. She has a natural ability to make us feel we are listened to, she cares, not only for the children and their families, but for us too. She has strong standards which nurture and develop staff. She has always been an amazing role model for other nurses and I for one am very grateful she is my boss.

Superb leadership, taking on the new role of ward manager during COVID 19. Thank you for all of the support. Superb leadership as new manager role during COVID 19 and shows amazing staff support.”
