ANNP Team – Plymouth

Nominated for Team of The Year Award

Team from University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

“NICU UHP has 8 ANNPs in the team.
They are the ‘constant’ on NICU/TC here at UHP and support the consultant and nursing teams in delivering an exceptional service for the babies in our care. The ANNPs ‘buddy’ doctors in training ensuring that they are supported during their rotation especially at the start and ensuring patient safety until the trainees become competent in neonatal medicine. They are an eclectic group, each with their individual strengths and all take on responsibilities to ensure the babies receive optimal care on NICU/TC. Examples of the ANNPs individual roles include: leading on the PeriPrem project, medicines management working with the pharmacist (to enable a governance structure for the nursing & medical team to prevent errors), MSc education lead, QI lead along with the perinatal team changing processes to enhance safety, PNTS transport link ANNP and lead investigator on RCA (root cause analysis) investigations for the perinatal service thus supporting governance and learning from errors. They are ALL FABULOUS!”
