Pauline Smith

Nominated for The Debbie Eadie Award for Advance Nurse Practice Award

Works at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

“Pauline has established the ANNP team here in UHP in 2001. She has worked tirelessly to increase the team and now has 8 ANNPs supporting the service here in UHP. She is tenacious in achieving funding for the team and ensuring that they are paid appropriately for the roles that they do. Pauline has ensured that ANNPs in UHP get supported to achieve the 4 pillars expected by HEE, therefore she has encouraged the team to extend their roles including education / QI / research / leadership. This has resulted in the ANNP team in UHP achieving ++ including scholarships, BAPM lead nurse, sitting on the NNA executive, developing MSc modules for ANNP, QI in collaboration with the perinatal team and ensuring we (ANNPs) have a high profile with the executive team here in UHP. She is FABULOUS!

Pauline has been a senior member of the team for a significant number of years. She balances maintaining excellent clinical skills with excellent ‘people’ management skills and demonstrates high levels of impartiality. She has contributed a huge amount to making the team what it is today, a structured model for nurses who wish to progress to the highest clinical levels.”
