Faye Nightingale

Nominated for Allied Health Professional of the Year Award

Physiotherapist at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust

“Faye has had the unfortunate pleasure of having me observe a few of her clinics this past year. Faye always demonstrates an excellent level of communication with colleagues, patients, and their families. She takes the time to explain the anatomy and physiology of the presenting complaint to the patient and their family, in a way that everyone can understand and follow. She educated me on Talipes and club footing in young babies, demonstrating the clinical criteria and the treatments available.

Faye always listens to the young person, giving them chance to explain the complaint or condition, no matter how old they are. If the child is upset or unsure, Faye will turn the consultation in to a game, utilising toys and teddy’s to help put the patient at ease. She really embodies the values of the Trust. Faye is always on hand to help her junior colleagues, even during clinics, she may pop out to help others. She empowers her team to have a go at something and is able to give critical feedback without being patronising. Its lovely to observe someone getting so much fulfilment from their job.

Faye has a wealth of experience and leads her physiotherapy team well. She helps bridge the gap between surgical and medical teams, and has good clinical judgement.”
