Exeter NNU is such an amazing place to work. The team are a real family and work tirelessly for achieve what’s best for the patient and their family time and time again. They carry out pioneering work on family-led and developmental care which is so important for the patient group and the advancement of neonatal practice. They constantly strive to improve and are totally open to new ideas and ways to innovate. They are an exemplar of how good interprofessional care should function. The consultants, senior nurses and ANNPs create a welcoming environment for trainees, where our presence is appreciated, and where our learning is encouraged and supported. Feedback is given freely and there is a feeling that the senior team are invested in our development and want to win us round to neonatology!
The RDE Neonatal Unit is the first level 2 neonatal unit in the UK to achieve the UNICEF Baby Friendly Gold Status award – again breaking new ground. This is a direct result of outstanding leadership, dedicated and committed teamwork and a real desire to improve the care delivered to the babies and families who experience Neonatal care here in Exeter. This is something that the whole team should be proud of – well done everyone.”
